Built a full-featured MERN marketplace with listings, bidding, and multi-category commerce — filling the gap left by global platforms unavailable in Pakistan.
Global marketplace giants like eBay do not serve the Pakistani market, leaving local buyers and sellers without a trusted platform for auction-style and fixed-price commerce across multiple product categories. This Final Year Project addressed that gap by delivering eBay-equivalent marketplace functionality tailored for Pakistani users.
I designed and built a full-featured marketplace platform using the MERN stack. The platform supports the complete commerce lifecycle: sellers create product listings with images and descriptions, buyers browse and search across categories, and auction-style bidding allows competitive price discovery alongside traditional buy-now options.
The system handles user authentication with separate buyer and seller roles, product catalog management, real-time bidding with countdown timers, order management, and a seller dashboard for inventory and sales tracking.
Technical challenges included implementing reliable real-time bidding without race conditions, designing a category taxonomy flexible enough for diverse product types, and building search and filter functionality that performs well as the product catalog grows.
